Lala's Wish

Tomorrow (04302016) is my birthday and boy have I had such an amazing birthday month. As many of you already know, every year I ask all my friends and family to donate to my favorite children’s charity in lieu of birthday gifts. This year I have chosen one of my favorite organizations, Pocket Money Project.

Pocket Money Project promotes economic independence for some of the under privileged kids at Tibetan Children Village school in upper Dharamsala, India by providing a network of additional financial assistance to help them thrive in their school life. This project is also committed to find ways to help the needed "pockets" in the exile community.

Pocket Money Project holds a special place in my heart because both of my parents attended Tibetan schools growing up in India. Both my parents are refugees and grew up in poverty, when I told my mom about Pocket Money Project the first thing she said to me was, “I wish this was around when I was growing up.” Your gift will go directly to the children so they can buy snacks, school supplies, or maybe even a new toy. (These kids love soccer)

I would like to end my birthday month with a bang and raise $500 for these children. I am asking all 421 of my amazing friends and family here on Facebook to donate $5. $5 is around 330 rupees in India and if all 421 people donate just $5, we will raise 139,821 rupees for these amazing kids. I am going to start this off by donating $50 to Pocket Money Project, I hope you will join me smile emoticon

Tserok Fund

Family Background: Tserok - Tibetan Camp, Mustang, Nepal

Tenzin Choesang and her parents are registered residents of Tserok Tibetan camp in Mustang, Nepal. Tserok camp is a remote village with 300 residents. Dorjee Gyaltsen, Choesang’s  father works as a yak herder during season for other families, earning less than $80/month, and her mother, Tsering Choedon earns less than $30~50/month from menial jobs around the camp. Both of her parents are illiterate.

Tenzin Choesang’s parents have taken out a loan of $1000 with a high interest rate of 13~15% per year to send her to the Tibetan Children’s Village School (TCV) in Dharamsala, India ($670 per year). In addition, it costs around $250~$300 for the family to travel all the way from Mustang to Dharamsala (takes about a week) to pick up and drop their child from school.

Tenzin Choesang, is deeply appreciative and humbled by the sacrifices that her parents have made for her education. She is very passionate about her education.  Last year, she stood first in her class in academic performances. Choesang is committed to doing well in school and open to influences that will help her grow both personally and academically. Tenzin Choesang’s parents also shared their views on how important education is in shaping her life.  As parents, they cannot bear to even think of Tenzin Choesang living the life they have, without education. They truly believe that education is the only option for her to have equal rights and opportunities to develop in life.

Please help relieve Tenzin Choesang and her family from the heavy burden of debt.Let’s fund Tenzin Choesang’s education at TCV.

Hey everybody! You may have already seen on Facebook that my birthday is coming up and I’m fundraising for the #PocketMoneyProject in lieu of gifts once again. Last year, I made a video from my kitchen explaining the importance of the #PocketMoneyProject. This year, a HUGE thanks goes out to my dear friend Anthony Curran from Father and Storm Productions for making this video. Thanks again to all the donors last year who helped raise a combined total of $595 USD and the early donors this yearl! Help me reach my fundraising goal of $620 USD:

PMP: On #Lobbday 2014, Lobsang Dolkar Wangkhang had successfully raised 331% of her fundraising goal with support from her loving friends and families all over the world to help the underprivileged children in uTCV, Dharamsala, India. We have used that money to supply the children with weekly pocket money, purchasing of school supplies and sustaining the project. Your initiative and kindness have been a strong driving force for this project, you who have personally met the children and sacrificed your birthday gifts to donate to their happiness again this year empowers us all to do more. Lobbday 2015, she had reached her fundraising goal and some more.  We truly appreciate appreciate you taking on the initiative and sacrificing your personal birthday wishes and gifts in exchange for something #forthekids.  We are humbled by your efforts in making time to get your friends together to do the awesome animated video.  Totally blew our mind when we saw it.  It's something that has never been done before and so fresh.  You have taken us on another level.  We hope you never lose that love for the kids in India and hopefully someday we will be able to help the kids all over the world with this project.  Thank you very much for making 2015 a successful year for the project.

LET'S END THE SUMMER RIGHT!!

Join us for the 2nd Annual Pocket Money Project fundraiser! Your support will help fund PMP's initiative to provide some much needed pocket money to some of the under privileged kids at the Tibetan Children Village school in Upper Dharamsala, India and help them thrive in their school life. This project is also committed to find ways to help the needed "pockets" in the exile community.

There will be performances by our local artists as well as friends from out of state joining in to entertain you all for a good cause. Dinner and refreshments will be served. We will have a bar on site and a merchandise table for those feeling a little extra trendy! To end the summer right, there will be a DJ mixing the night for some serious dancing!
