Pocket Money Project promotes the economic independence of under privileged kids at the Tibetan Children Village school in upper Dharamsala, India by providing a network of additional financial assistance to help them thrive in their school life.
We are all connected through our memories. We can remember when, as children in Tibetan schools, we had our good and bad times. Now we are living "better lives" but for me, this actually means shouldering responsibilities and giving back to our community. Through this project that I have kept alive in my heart despite all the distractions that come my way, I am able, with the help of my friends, to hold my part of the responsibility of being a Tibetan and a fellow human on this earth.
How are you helping?
• Your contribution of any amount helps because the money goes directly into their pockets, which they get to spend on themselves.
• The pocket money we are trying to raise, supports these kids are more than the pocket money they usually receive from the school. So with your financial assistance, you are actually saving the money for the school which they could use that to fund their education and facilities for better learning environment.
• Kids mental stages are very delicate. Most of the kids show less interest on studies and more on playing games, fun activities, and desire to eat junk food. When they can’t meet those desires they tend to separate themselves from the society and could wound up becoming delinquent as means of exertion. So through your contributions to this pocket money project, you are actually creating an abstract condition for the kids to become a better person.

Here is my very much delayed message, but I would like to give one last thank you to everyone who has donated to the Pocket Money Project Birthday Fundraiser! Over the winter break, I had the time to convert the in-person CAD donations into USD. In clearer terms... For example, had an individual donated 20$ CAD, 20$ USD would be donated on their behalf. The difference is usually my way contributing to this fundraiser. The CAD is weak af compared to the USD (does it even lift bro??? ok sorry that's 2 cheezy), so my parents also contributed once again, to help pay a bit of the conversion difference (because I buy too much pizza, sorry Amala 😭). A total of 1025,11$ USD in Pocket Money was donated #forthekids at the Upper Tibetan Children's Village in Dharamsala and also for the students at the Dalai Lama Institute for Higher Education in Bangalore. This was 214% of the goal of $479. NOW I shall leave your IG and FB feeds undisturbed from all of my spamming of great, generous people (but real talk, I know you enjoyed it) until next November... WITH the exception of my great birthday video sidekick Amy Yuan posting some great things during reading week :*... BLESS UP, ཐུགས་རྗེ་ཆེ་ <

Tomorrow (04302016) is my birthday and boy have I had such an amazing birthday month. As many of you already know, every year I ask all my friends and family to donate to my favorite children’s charity in lieu of birthday gifts. This year I have chosen one of my favorite organizations, Pocket Money Project.

Pocket Money Project holds a special place in my heart because both of my parents attended Tibetan schools growing up in India. Both my parents are refugees and grew up in poverty, when I told my mom about Pocket Money Project the first thing she said to me was, “I wish this was around when I was growing up.” Your gift will go directly to the children so they can buy snacks, school supplies, or maybe even a new toy. (These kids love soccer)
I would like to end my birthday month with a bang and raise $500 for these children. I am asking all 421 of my amazing friends and family here on Facebook to donate $5. $5 is around 330 rupees in India and if all 421 people donate just $5, we will raise 139,821 rupees for these amazing kids. I am going to start this off by donating $50 to Pocket Money Project, I hope you will join me smile emoticon
Thank you!
